Gusto speaks on finally ending long drought with first Blues goal as Chelsea secure 3 points at home to Wolves

Image
My first goal is only the start says Blues right back Malo Gusto  After reaching 98 appearances in a Blue shirt, it's fair to say that Malo Gusto was certainly most pleased to see his long awaited goal drought for his first Chelsea goal come to an end. However the French full back believes that that this is only the beginning as the Frenchman helped the Blues to a 3-0 win at home to Wolves.  Chelsea secured the three points thanks to three goals in the second half as they headed into the November international break with a spring in their step , and it was Gusto who broke the deadlock. Latching onto Alejandro Garnacho's lopping cross and heading the ball passed the oncoming Wolves goalkeeper, Gusto showed the intent of a striker wheeling away to celebrate with the Chelsea fans in the Matthew Harding lower end.  Elsewhere, in the second half for Chelsea Joao Pedro doubled the Blues advantage which his second goal in as many games, with Pedro Neto wrapping up the resu...

Match report - Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

Image
The blues make it 7 wins out of 8 in the premier league with a dominant display at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium ending with a deserved 1-0 win Joao Pedro with Chelsea's winner in a well deserved win at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium A dominant first half from the Blues saw them go a goal up at the break after some fine pressing from Moises Caicedo resulted in Joao Pedro getting the opener for the Blues. The game was a stroll in the park for the Blues who were rarely ever troubled by the hosts and could and should have added another in the second half, Pedro Neto forcing two saves from Guglielmo Vicario in the Tottenham goal in normal time, Jamie Gittens missed a glorious opportunity later and the Spurs shot stopper also produced a great save to deny Joao Pedro in injury time.  The blues in the end had to settle for a solitary goal however, this was enough to secure another victory over Tottenham to move the Blues into the top 4, level on points with Spurs who sit in third. Match report Wolves 1-3 Chelsea Blues advance to the 5th round of the carabao cup after edging a thriller

Image
Four brilliant goals give Blues victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in what turned out to be 7 goal thriller at Molineux Chelsea made a flying start in what turned out to be a cracker of a knockout tie at Molineux against Wolves in the 4th round of the Carabao Cup at Molineux. Andrey Santos got the Blues up and running and set them on their way. Things were to get even better for the Blues soon afterwards with a brilliant team move finished off by Tyrique George with Brazilian starboy Estavao Willian scoring an audacious chip to put the Blues 3-0 up at the break.  However, things were far from comfortable and straightforward for the Blues, A determined fightback from the west country outfit combined with a red card for the returning Liam Delap complicated matters as the home side threatened to take the game to penalties.  Thankfully Jamie Gittens tremendous strike in off the post spared the Blues blushes to restore the two goal cushion, meaning that even with the home s...

Confirmed starting line-up to face Wolves

Chelsea make changes in goal, defence, midfield and attack ahead of tonight's fourth round Carabao cup tie against Wolves at Molineux Chelsea starting line-up to face Wolves in the Carabao Cup   Enzo Maresca makes wholesale changes by rotating the squad with Filip Jorgensen starting in goal with Tosin Adarabioyo, Malo Gusto and Jorrel Hato starting in defence. The trio are joined in defence by Josh Acheampong who is the only player to retain his place following Saturday's loss at home to Sunderland.  There is a strong expectation that Andrey Santos will partner Romeo Lavia in the midfield with Estavao Willian, Facundo Buoananotte and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens partnering Tyrique George in attack.  Tosin captains the blues for the first time on his 50th appearance for the club.  My score prediction for this game is Wolves 0-3 Chelsea  Let me know your score predictions in the comments below

We knew that we were going to come up against a team that were full of togetherness. They showed that from the start and tried to disrupt our game. In the first half we had our chances, in the second half we tried creating more chances to get ourselves back onto the front foot...

Match Report - Abraham goal secures victory for Chelsea in the FA Cup

Image
On a cold freezing night in Yorkshire, Chelsea had to wait until midway through the second half to find a way through a very spirited and resilient Barnsley side, however , a Tammy Abraham goal was enough to send Chelsea into the next round of the FA Cup, this was Chelsea's first success against Barnsley in the FA Cup following two previous defeats.  The most recent of those came back in 2008 when Chelsea then led by Avram Grant were knocked out at Oakwell however, this time though the only goal of the game went to Chelsea and was down to good combination play from three Chelsea academy graduates, with Tammy Abraham netting in from close range after quickness of thought from Billy Gilmour along with Reece James's pace and cross created the opening goal. Barnsley may well consider themselves unlucky not to have gone ahead in the goalless first half. Having started the better side, Barnsley wing-back Callum Brittain has his shot well saved early on by Kepa Arrizabalaga before see...

Barnsley vs Chelsea the pre-match brief + team news

Image
To conclude the fifth round of the FA cup this evening Chelsea face Barnsley at Oakwell The gap in-between the league  positionings of Barnsley and Chelsea is the biggest between any of the teams facing each other in this round of the FA Cup buy the side from Yorkshire were the last side in the championship to defeat Chelsea from the FA Cup back in 2008. The last time these sides squared up was in the Carabao Cup, with both teams under different management. The current coaches of both teams also met in the Bundesliga four years ago this month, when Thomas Tuchel's Borussia Dortmund defeated Valerian Ismael's Wolfsburg 3-0.  The next game in the premier league for Chelsea is when struggling Newcastle visit Stamford Bridge, however, Tuchel will not be looking ahead to this. Every child recalls the words FA Cup and Wembley as Tuchel mentioned this week, and adding the FA Cup to his list of major honours would be huge. There appeared to be a spring in Chelsea's step and the hop...

Tuchel has heard everything he needs to about Erling Haaland amidst transfer links to Chelsea

Image
It would appear that Erling Haaland is on Chelsea's list of transfer targets ahead of the transfer window in the summer with head coach Thomas Tuchel looking to increase his attacking options at Stamford Bridge. Erling Haaland is on a long list of summer transfers for Chelsea as Thomas Tuchel looks to strengthen in attack The January transfer window has closed it's doors less than one week ago and already there would appear to be speculation and rumours ahead of the summer window are rife. Having splashed out more than £200 million on players in last summers window, Chelsea did not spend during the January transfer window, with only a handful of outgoings keeping the transfer department busy in a somewhat one of the more quiet January transfer windows on record. The departure temporarily of Fikayo Tomori to AC Milan on loan for the remainder of the season, as well as out of favour defender Danny Drinkwater being loaned out to Turkey, remained the main headlines as far as any tr...

Sheffield United 1-2 Chelsea the match report

Image
Timo Werner and Mason Mount Celebrate Chelsea's opening goal against Sheffield United For the second time in the space of four days a penalty from Jorginho proved to be the difference as Chelsea moved up to fifth in the table with a win over Sheffield United at Brammal Lane. Just like the game on Thursday against Tottenham again it was Timo Werner who was fouled, but this time Jorginho opted to go for hid more traditional penalty technique to send goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale the wrong way. Jorginho is now Chelsea's second top goalscorer in the league with five goals to his name. The winger which came in the 58th minute after Antonio Rudiger had put through his own net awkwardly for what was an unfortunate first goal conceded under Thomas Tuchel. Rudiger more than made up for his mistake with a series of vital blocks and clearances as Chelsea doggedly defended their narrow lead later on in the game. Chelsea enjoyed a couple of early let offs in the game, not least when Sheffield U...

Antonio Rudiger on correcting the wrongs and abuse which makes him even more stronger

Image
Having been a key part of the rear-guard which has resulted in Chelsea not conceding a goal in the first three games of Thomas Tuchel's reign as Chelsea head coach, and part of the side which beat one of the other big six teams for the first time this season on Thursday, defender Antonio Rudiger provides us with a description of the new coaches attention to detail. The defender also also addressed the racial abuse he has received on social media in the wake of Frank Lampard being replaced at Stamford Bridge by Thomas Tuchel. Rudiger retained his place in the side for for the last couple of league games under Lampard and and has remained part of the back three which has been reshaped by Thomas Tuchel, and believes that the players are picking up the new bosses thinking very quickly. 'When we analysed the game against Wolves and Burnley, I think that we adapted well to the plan said Rudiger. 'There will of course be moments like the second half against Tottenham where we cam...

Before Chelsea face Barnsley in the FA Cup there is the small matter of facing Sheffield United in the premier league, with both sides having regained some form as of late.  Bramall Lane is one of those rare away fixtures where the biggest ever win for Chelsea was their maiden bow with a 3-0 victory back in January 1908 with George Hilsden getting on the scoresheet twice. Chelsea's most recent success came back in 2006 with goals from Michael Ballack and Frank Lampard.
