Romeo Lavia's thoughts on how Xabi Alonso is trying to get that extra one percent

Belgian midfielder Romeo Lavia is feeling great and believes he is going to get even better with the support from his team-mates and new manager Xabi Alonso 

Chelsea's 22 year old Belgian midfielder has now started both premier league games under new Blues boss Xabi Alonso and is enjoying making a positive impact on the pitch, something which he did at home Brighton last Sunday as he tapped home his first Chelsea goal in a 4-3 Chelsea win at Stamford Bridge against Brighton. 

Having won two games out of two in the league Lavia highlighted Chelsea developing an elite mentality which he believes is making the difference.

When asked on this Lavia responded by saying " Our mentality has been great so far this season, the manager has been really big on that and is trying to help us get that extra percent to help us get three points at the weekend and it's great. 

"It's all about building confidence. Obviously my team mates are giving me a lot of it and the manager as well and it's all about me building my confidence game by game and I feel great so hopefully it can continue forever."

Even the cool, calm Belgian couldn't hide his sheer delight after scoring his first goal for Chelsea , even admitting he might have had the video on loop. 

Lavia continued to add " It means a lot to me to score my first Chelsea goal and I am really happy- to score my first goal at Bridge as well, it can't get any better than that. I think I will rewatch that goal a few more times . It may not be a pretty goal but I'll take it all day. 

" The reaction from the fans was fantastic as well as from my teammates as well, I felt the love and so it's an amazing feeling."

In a game which saw Brighton peg Chelsea back, Lavia recognises that the group will only get better with time with all eyes on Sunday's big clash away to current Premier League champions Arsenal at the Emirates this Sunday.

"I know my teammates and know that my teammates can take over, we just to ensure that the rest goes with it" he went onto add.

"We realise that it's an automatic process, that we push each other. I know my teammates will take over in the end. It's honestly a great group to be in and to a part off and the demands in training make it easier for us to perform on the weekend."

"We know that there is a lot of work which goes on behind the scenes, and it was just about putting that into practice and it came off against Brighton and so I am very happy."
