Gusto speaks on finally ending long drought with first Blues goal as Chelsea secure 3 points at home to Wolves
My first goal is only the start says Blues right back Malo Gusto
After reaching 98 appearances in a Blue shirt, it's fair to say that Malo Gusto was certainly most pleased to see his long awaited goal drought for his first Chelsea goal come to an end. However the French full back believes that that this is only the beginning as the Frenchman helped the Blues to a 3-0 win at home to Wolves.
Chelsea secured the three points thanks to three goals in the second half as they headed into the November international break with a spring in their step , and it was Gusto who broke the deadlock. Latching onto Alejandro Garnacho's lopping cross and heading the ball passed the oncoming Wolves goalkeeper, Gusto showed the intent of a striker wheeling away to celebrate with the Chelsea fans in the Matthew Harding lower end.
Elsewhere, in the second half for Chelsea Joao Pedro doubled the Blues advantage which his second goal in as many games, with Pedro Neto wrapping up the result and the end with Chelsea's third tapping home from close range to send the Chelsea supporters into delirium and content with the result and the performance.
At full time Gusto stated that he was delighted to have opened the scoring for the club as they moved to second in the premier league table.
Gusto went onto say "it's been a long time since I arrived at Chelsea and this is only the beginning". Stating that he was very proud and that he had been waiting to score his first goal in his senior career stating he was happy for himself, his family and the fans.
He then said that the win was big stating that the performance was really important and that Chelsea won before the international break, and how the objective for the club is to finish in the top four. and how the Blues will keep fighting and keep going.
When asked about his goal Gusto went onto mention that the plan was to bring players into the box and how it was the key for the team.
After a difficult first 45 minutes for the Blues Gusto admitted that the Blues needed to play with more intensity after half time and was happy with the impetus that Chelsea were looking for going into the second half.
He continued to add that in the first half the team struggled to to find a lot of space more often, however were a lot better in the second half and played much better. He further added to state that the manager at half time had asked the players to be a bit more patient stating that the chance will arrive, with players being found more easier going onto add how the team scored the first goal.
Though international break now separates Chelsea ahead of their next premier league match away to Burnley on Saturday 22nd November at Turf Moor with the game set to kick off at 12:30pm the Chelsea full back recognises how important momentum will be for the Blues heading into a busy part of the schedule.
The French full back added that though the Blues had won their last premier league game against Tottenham which was important along with winning at home to Wolves he stated the importance of using the wins to build something as a group.
