Thomas Tuchel's thoughts on Tottenham win plus update on Thiago Silva's injury

According to head coach Thomas Tuchel there would have been very few details lacking which would have made the victory for Chelsea even more comfortable, as he provided us with his own analysis of yesterday's 1-0 victory against Tottenham, according to the head coach there was plenty he believed his Chelsea team got right.

The German saw a Jorginho penalty, despatched confidently during the first half, a victory in his first London derby and afterwards the boss spoke about his choice of player to take the penalty. There was however one setback from the game which was an injury during the game to Thiago Silva, but Tuchel began with his own overall assessment of his teams performance.

'In general I am very pleased with this result, it is a well deserved win for us' he says.

'In the first half I felt we were very good, we were dominant and strong with the ball, we counter-pressed well and we did not allow any counter attacks to occur against one of the most dangerous sides.'

'Yes we lacked a bit of precision in the box and composure in order to make it 2-0 and score more goals in order to kill of the game in the first half, so this made the second half more difficult. We kept losing the ball , lost our possession and confidence , however, we never lost our defensive structure, we never lost our intensity to push higher up the pitch with the courage to defend up high and in front' I am very pleased.

'It's very normal if you are able play such a dominant game like this but are unable to score the second goal, it almost feels like you have to suffer for minutes until the second goal does arrive, however, we were ready for this both physically and mentally, I am very happy with the effort from the team as a whole. We defended brilliantly.

Tuchel also highlighted some of the half chances in the second half  which were not taken plus bigger chances on the counter-attack, but the head coach stressed he is happy his team only conceded one major chance which occurred as Tottenham attacked a lot more towards the end of the game. Tottenham's only big chance fell to Carlos Vinicius who headed wide of the target.

When asked about Chelsea not killing opposition teams of quickly Tuchel said :

'We need to make sure we create more clear cut opportunities, this is the main objective and job for me. One of the most difficult things to do in football is to keep calm and to score, I have full trust in my players and we will work more on this to create more clear cut chances and be more effective. In general we all want to score even with half-chances but in a difficult league like the premier league it is not always like this.'

Centre-back Thiago Silva came off injured during the second half with an injury to his upper leg whilst stretching for the ball.

On Silva Tuchel said, 'It will be very tight to have him fit for Sunday's game, with only two days of recovery, when asked about the likelihood of the player being out. ' It's very early to provide a diagnosis as I have only seen him briefly with a big strap around his muscle. We will need to wait until tomorrow for any confirmation but I think he may be doubt for our game o Sunday.'

Tuchel was also asked if he had spoken to Jorginho about his method for taking penalties, which the player changed for the penalty he took against Tottenham having missed a few recently.

Tuchel stated 'After training the guys haver been taking penalties in the last nine days'. We had Willy Caballero pushing our penalty takers in being more serious. If you are not serious you will not score against him, from this you have a pretty good picture of who is capable and who is not.

'The names we put down to take the penalties were Jorginho and Mason Mount and I went to Jorginho before the game and asked him if he was feeling confident if we were to get a penalty and he told me yes. So as a team we trusted him but I didn't speak to him about how to take a penalty. It is up to the players to decide how they takes a penalty and how confident they feel, we were very happy to see him score it.'
