Thiago Silva sits down and explains why he is happy to work under head coach Thomas Tuchel for second time and outlines what he expects to achieve for the remainder of the season in an interview which was printed in the programme notes for the game against Burnley.

The Brazilian defender will know Thomas Tuchel better than anyone having spend two seasons playing under the current Chelsea head coach whilst at PSG, whilst winning the Ligue 1 title in both his seasons in Paris along with reaching the final of the champions league last year.

There are mixed feelings for Thiago Silva with Chelsea legend Frank Lampard's departure from the club as head coach, however Silva says the arrival of Tuchel is proof that there are always new experiences in football even for a player who has witnessed so much in a ling, glittering and successful career.

Ahead of Sunday's victory over Burnley in Chelsea's matchday programme Thiago Silva stated 'This week has been really unique for me, different to anything I have previously experienced, because when there has been a change in managers, the incoming manager has never been someone who I have worked with before or have developed a good relationship with.'

Thiago Silva and Thomas Tuchel celebrate winning the Ligue 1 title in Paris

In Paris, I had two unbelievable years with Thomas Tuchel which included getting into the final of the champions league. That was great year for everybody at PSG. This is the reason it's a special moment for me with his arrival at Chelsea.

Before for me it had always been  new managers who I have previously not worked with. So this leaves me with mixed feelings. Yes you still feel sad when you see a manager leave, there is no doubt about that. Sadness for one and happiness for another. I had a good relationship and got on well with both. However, life has to go on it's a results driven business and we have to turn our current run of results around.'

'My hope is for Tuchel to improve us in all aspects so that we start to pick up better results. With all due respect for the clubs around us, sitting in midtable isn't good enough and we need to be fighting further up the league.'

'We have just passed the halfway stage of the season in the premier league, this means that there is still an opportunity and plenty of time for us to put a good run of form together and climb up the table, along with a round of 16 tie in the champions league and the FA cup to look forward to.'

Knowing Thomas Tuchel as he does and from what he has learned about his team-mates during his first season at Chelsea, Thiago Silva is more than confident that Chelsea can enjoy a successful second half  of the season.

'What provides me with hope and motivates me is the belief I have in this group and the potential of this team Silva said. 'Right now there is huge motivation  to ensure that the second half of the season is completely different to the first half, with more wins and success. So that, by the end of the season we'll achieve our aim of winning silverware whether that's in the premier league or in the champions league.'

' It may seem a long way off , however, if we don't have the belief in ourselves , we won't get anywhere. So it is extremely important that we focus on the job at hand, focus on our self-belief and more important than all continue to work hard.'
