Rudiger on working with Tuchel and fighting for the cause

Antonio Rudiger in action in Sunday's 2-0 victory over Burnley

German defender Antonio Rudiger believes that Chelsea are showing positive steps under new head coach Thomas Tuchel, with Chelsea already adapting and buying into the Germans idea of how to play.

On Sunday Chelsea recorded their first victory under Thomas Tuchel with a 2-0 victory against Burnley at Stamford Bridge that to goals from Spanish duo Cesar Azpiliqueta and Marcos Alonso.

The win come of the back of a goalless draw at home to Wolves in Tuchel's first game in charge of Chelsea, Rudiger revealed that Tuchel instructed his side to play with more intensity against Burnley and the defender feels that Tuchel has already made a strong impression on the squad so far.

Rudiger explained 'He has only been at the club for a few days possibly a week and of course it will take time to adapt to his game and his methods of playing.'

So far it's been good and I think with our win on Sunday we are moving in the right direction. In the second half I think we showed that we can play with a lot of intensity and this is what we have been working on in training with the new manager.

Rudiger has been pleased with two consecutive clean sheets which have been kept this week as he made his return back to the starting line-up in recent times after finding himself on the bench and out of favour with Frank Lampard.

The German defender has in fact helped Chelsea to keep three consecutive clean sheets in Chelsea's last four premier league games and has explained that the virtue of remaining patient, working hard in training and always giving 100 percent when he has been handed his opportunity and this is what has led him to this point.

'Ever since the beginning of the season, a target for me has always been to start games and try and help the team said Rudiger.'

'Even when I was not in the side, I have always said I wanted to fight my way back into the team and recently I have managed to do this.'

'In the last four games which I have started we've managed to keep three clean sheets, as a defender this is very pleasing.'

I'm very committed as a player and I'm not the kind of person who gives up. Any opportunity which I get to be on the pitch, I will always give a 100 percent.

With Tuchel having made a strong start to life in charge of Chelsea, and with plenty of football left to be played this season, Rudiger says that there is a feeling of optimism at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea head into the game on Thursdays game against Tottenham looking to secure another victory in the premier league.

Rudiger stated 'we are a few points away from the champions league places and there are lots of games to be played this season.' 'It is now down to us and we need to focus on each game as it comes.'
