Tuchel explains his plan to get the best out of Timo Werner

Tuchel will hope to bring the best out of Timo Werner

Amongst the things on Thomas Tuchel's to-do list is to get Timo Werner finding form and firing again in a Chelsea Shirt.

Werner signed for Chelsea in the summer and begun his Blue's career impressively scoring eight goals in his first thirteen appearances. Since then however, he has scored only once in 16 games, the most recent being a penalty miss against Luton in the Fa cup fourth round.

Having seen and faced Werner during his managerial spells in Germany, Tuchel is fully aware of his fellow compatriots ability, as well as his ability to play in his role and hopes to help Werner showcase it.

On Werner's body language Tuchel explained 'At the moment he has a closed face as there is a huge weight on his shoulders.'

'He does care a lot, this is reflected in his character. Sometimes being a striker it could help that you care a lot; sometimes you would thing it's better to not care at all, but he is not that type of character.'

'He does care, however, he is just not happy with himself and the way things have gone currently. It is important right now for him to rebuilt the trust in himself, try and re-find a smile back on his face, and stop having doubts on himself so much.' It is my responsibility to help him with this, and then find him a position where we can play to his strengths.'

'From analysing his profile I see that he prefers to have space, said Tuchel as he turned his focus on finding Werner's best position.

'He is very quick and likes to play on the last line, slightly higher up the pitch more towards the left so that he is open towards the opponents goal where he can receive balls into open space.'

'A question to be asked is could we develop movement. patterns and behaviour in order to use his quality in small spaces? That is my job and I'm convinced we can because he is young, open minded, friendly and is eager to learn.'
