How Chelsea post-Lampard may line up against Wolves preview, team news and Line-up

Match Preview

Life without Frank Lampard on the dugout begins for Chelsea who host Wolves in the premier league at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

The last meeting between these two sides resulted in a 2-1 victory for Wolves back in December which begun a wretched run of form for Chelsea which resulted in Lampard being relieved of his duties on Monday Morning.

The hot seat at Stamford Bridge as claimed yet another victim during the era of ruthless owner Roman Abramovich, not even Lampard's status as a cult hero and a legend could prevent him from being sacked after a dismal run of results.

Chelsea are a club never far away from controversy when the short tenures of their managers come to an end. Despite suffering five league defeats in his last eight games with the Blues, a large section of Chelsea fans feeling that Lampard should have been provided with more time to implement his philosophy at Stamford Bridge.

However, there have been reports that some of the Chelsea players have complained about the tactics deployed by Lampard which would have done the Englishman no favours amidst the Blues dismal run, with Abramovich set to welcome former PSG coach Thomas Tuchel to Stanford Bridge in the next couple of days.

Whether Tuchel will be appointed in time or not to take charge against Wolves is yet to be seen, however, having lost his job at PSG whilst guiding the French club to the top of Ligue 1, he will certainly be aware of the massive task facing him in this unforgiving role.

Even though Chelsea eased to a comfortable 3-1 victory against Luton town in the fourth round of the Fa cup to send Lampard out with a win, however, five points separating ninth placed Chelsea from the top four, they can ill afford to mourn the loss of Lampard as Wolves look to turn their fortunes around.

Recently Chelsea's world of football has been  paused for arounds five hours yesterday with the announcement of Lampard's sacking. Players today returned back to training this afternoon , with coaches Joe Edwards and Anthony Barry taking charge temporarily. We assume that the pair will take charge on Wednesday unless Thomas Tuchel tests positive for Covid19. there has been an update from Chelsea that Tuchel will take his seat in the dugout.

The reality of the situation is that Chelsea are desperately in need of wins many wins and the next two home games , Wolves at home and Burnley on Sunday were supposed to be provide help to springboard Lampard's recovery plan. Instead these two games will springboard the start of Tuchel's tenure as Chelsea's head coach.

Team News

Regardless of this wins are needed. This however, will not be an easy task. There may be a change in personnel however, the players remain the same all of whom bar Kante should be available.

Should Tuchel take charge on Wednesday his main task will be to get the best out of expensive German signings Timo Werner and Kai Havertz both of whom are yet to justify their big money arrivals at the club.

Tuchel experimented with a 3 man defence in his final season with PSG but favours the 4-3-3 a system very familiar with Chelsea who are boosted with the return of Edouard Mendy, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell to the starting 11.

How Chelsea could possibly line-up on Wednesday night

1) Mendy

2) James

3) Zouma

4) Thiago Silva

5) Chilwell

6) Kovacic

7) Mount

8) Havertz

9) Werner

10) Abraham

11) Hudson-Odoi

Score Prediction: Chelsea 1-0 Wolves
