Chelsea held to a 0-0 by a resilient Wolves in Thomas Tuchel's first game in charge

Chelsea put up a bright display under the management of Thomas Tuchel playing fluid football and applying high pressure off the ball. Chelsea in fact should have gone ahead with five minutes on the clock, Callum Hudson-Odoi with a beautiful whipped ball into the box however Olivier Giroud was unable to get contact on the ball to tap it in from close range at the near post.

In the 20th minute a glorious chance for Hakim Ziyech presented itself on the edge of the box however, the chance resulted in an easy save for Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio.

Antonio Rudiger who started in defence today , made a reckless challenge on the edge of the area on Daniel Podence, however Ruben Neves was unable to capitalise on the opportunity putting the ball over the crossbar.

A bright spark  for Chelsea was Callum Hudson-Odoi , the winger produced yet another cross for Ben Chilwell to get on the end of in the 32nd minute at the back post only for the left back to put his volley wide.

A chance then felt to Antonio Rudiger as a result of Hakim Ziyech's free kick delivered towards the back post, only for goalkeeper Rui Patricio to to save well from the centre-backs header.

For the majority of the first half Wolves struggled to get out of their own half they did however, in the 40th minute they created a chance down the left hand side but Leander Dendoncker could only put his header over the bar.

Mason Mount looked bright when he came on dummying Jorginho's ball before seeing his cross well cleared.

Wolves continued to push for a late winner and they thought they almost had it ad Dendoncker looked to pull the trigger only for Callum Hudson-Odoi to make a last ditch tackle.

In the last minutes of stoppage time there was one for chance for Chelsea through Kai Havertz only for the German's free header to be deflected over.

However, neither side was unable to break the deadlock at Stamford Bridge ensuring Thomas Tuchels first game in charge as Chelsea head coach ends in a draw.

Within the first minute of the second half , both Hudson-Odoi and Ziyech combined with each other for a cross to be put in but neither Giroud or Havertz were able to convert it into the back of the net.

Havertz then clashed legs with Nelson Semedo as he went for an aerial ball however no penalty was given .

Over an hour into the game Ben Chilwell should have put Chelsea ahead with Havertz doing well in cutting the ball back to the defender only for Chilwell to blast his effort over the crossbar from close range.

A couple of minutes afterwards Chelsea began to up the tempo. Through quick passing a low ball drilled in from Callum Hudson-Odoi resulted in Olivier Giroud's tame effort being saved by Rui Patricio.

Wolves possibly should have taken the lead in the 77th minute through Pedro Neto. Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy's misplaced pass saw the visitors drive forwards and saw Neto one on one with the goalkeeper only for his scooped chip shot to hit the crossbar and go over.

By the 77th minute Tuchel had seen enough and made a double substitution with Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic coming on to replace Ben Chilwell and Olivier Giroud.

An opportunity fell for Matteo Kovacic in the 82nd minute as Ziyech teed him up on the edge of the box, only for him to shoot wide of Rui Patricio in goal.

Mason Mount was then brought on in place of Hakim Ziyech in the closing stages of the game by Tuchel as Chelsea pushed for a winner. Chelsea dominating possession yet having nothing to show for it.

Four minutes from the end a chance fell to Callum Hudson Odoi as he drove at Rayan Ait-Nouri only to see his deflected shot tipped away by Rui Patricio.

Mason Mount Looked bright when he came on as he dummied a ball from Jorginho only to see his cross cleared well .

Wolves could and probably should have won it through Leander Dendoncker only for Chelsea to be saved by a last minute tackle from Callum Hudson-Odoi.

At the end there was a chance for Havertz but his free header was deflected over the crossbar.

Neither side were able to find a winner meaning Thomas Tuchel's first game in charge as Chelsea head coach ends in a draw.
