Chelsea disgusted as they release statement on Reece James racist abuse

Chelsea issued a statement condemning the racist online abuse suffered by full back Reece James

Chelsea have urged social media companies to take more lenient action in order to stamp out racism on their platforms after full back Reece James became the latest victim to be subjected to foul racist abuse.

James took to his Instagram profile on Friday evening to show the vile messages he had received , posting in response the message 'No room for RACISM'.

Chelsea released a statement condemning the racist abuse suffered on social media by right back Reece James on Friday evening,

In a written statement the Chelsea stated 'This club finds all forms of racism and discriminatory behaviour to be unacceptable and we condemn it.'

'In the wider society of sport we must create a social media environment where actions of hate and discrimination towards an individual are unacceptable online as it would be on the street.'

'We will continue to add our voice to the social media platforms as well as the regulatory authorities to take stronger, effective and more urgent action against this disgusting behaviour. 

Something needs to change and it needs to change right now.
